Cabo San Lucas - 2/20/2022

The day started with breakfast, which we had on the rooftop patio area.  It was good.  However, they are constructing new units, so a bit noisy.  It's nice being able to eat outdoors in the sun and warmth.

The first stop for us was at Walmart.  There were some supplies we could not find at Costco, so we had to hit the local Walmart.  It was interesting to see the layout of the store and how different it is from the Walmart's at home.  There is a liquor store right beside the Walmart, so everything is conveniently in one place.  Interestingly, we could not find tequila salt for the rim of our glasses when we make our palomas.  We found it was very odd because anytime you get a margarita or paloma from a local bar, there is always salt on the rim.  We couldn't find any, so we got some coarse salt at Walmart to get us by.

One of the things we were anxious to do was have lunch at Tacos Guss.  We ate there last year and they have great tacos for about $1.50 each.  Debbie had carne asada, pork, and chicken.  I had carne asada, pork, chicken, chorizo (Mexican sausage), and beef tongue.  I've had beef tongue in Mexico before, but this was the first time on a taco.  It was delicious!!!

Later in the day, we went to Cibola, which is a restaurant that is part of Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach.  It's one of our favorite restaurants on property.  We try to get dinner reservations around 6pm, which is when the typical sunset happens and the location of the restaurant is a terrific place to take pictures.  We couldn't get reservations until 8pm, so we went early and had a paloma at the bar while Debbie got pictures of the sunset.  We both had the beef fillet, which is typical as it is always cooked to perfection.  I also opted for the chocolate cake, which is odd because I rarely eat dessert.  Since we are not doing all inclusive this trip, we paid for the meal with a credit card.  It was expensive and is helping us realize that as much as people complain about all inclusive, it's worth it.

Travel Tips:

1.  If you stay at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach, the price of the all-inclusive is worth it.  We have had the chance to pay for drinks and dinner at the property this time, and just one meal took up 10% of what we would have paid for all-inclusive.  If you're there 6 days and have dinner each day, the dinners alone are more than what you pay for all-inclusive.  When you factor in breakfast, lunch, and drinks, all-inclusive is worth the price.

2.  When tipping, tip the server in cash.  If you put the tip on the bill, it is split with the entire staff.  Tipping the server directly means that they get to keep the money and not split it.  The servers make very little money, so cash tips go a long way towards helping them.
